Porsche Taycan Will Hit EV Market
Porsche decided to double the volume of production of its all-electric Taycan model to 40,000 units a year.
Probably inspired by good reviews and a large number of pre-orders (more than 3,000 came from Norway alone), Porsche intents to manufacture 40,000 cars instead of initially planned figure of 20,000.
It is early to say now whether Porsche will succeed in achieving the plan in the first year of sales. The year of 2018 was successful for the carmaker.
Indeed, sales of the brand increased by 4%, reaching record 256,255 vehicles last year. By the way, most of this growth was thanks to new versions of the Panamera PHEV.
The Porsche Taycan (previously called the Mission E) will enter the market in the end of 2019. A base model is the Taycan, an AWD version is called the Taycan 4S, a top-range car is the Taycan Turbo.
”Turbo” probably means the vehicle will be the fastest and most advanced compared to other modifications.
The standard Porsche Taycan will cost from $90,000, the Taycan 4S – $100,000, and Taycan Turbo – $130,000. Pre-order deposit is $2,500 for a base car.
The Porsche Taycan electric vehicle got a 600-hp motor (440kW). It accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, the driving range is 500km (311 miles) according to NEDC circle.
