Porsche Taycan Set the Guinness Record In a Cross-Country Drive

A Porsche Taycan has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as a record-setter for the shortest charging time to cross the USA in an electric vehicle.

As the automaker reports, multi-Guinness title holder Wayne Gerdes made a cross-country drive from Los Angeles to New York City behind the wheel of a 2021 Porsche Taycan with the Performance Battery Plus. The car covered a distance of 2,834.5 miles, and a cumulative charge time was the record 2 hours, 26 minutes, and 48 seconds.

Gerdes plotted the route across the country using Plug Share and the Electrify America app. He benefitted from the use of Plug-and-Charge for most of his trip. The first time the vehicle was charged on a 350-kW charger, and it took 22 minutes to charge from 6% to 82 %.

Wayne Gerdes was very pleased with the Taycan and said the car performed even better than he expected. In addition to excellent road holding and comfort, the EV had a standout, record-setting efficiency.
