The electric sports car can be charged in 5 minutes.
The Porsche Taycan has been recently officially unveiled. It is the first mass-produced electric car with on-board network voltage twice exceeding that of a conventional EV: 800 volts instead of usual .
Thus, drivers of this sports four-door performance sedan will have a huge advantage – possibility to charge the battery at a high-power station in just five minutes.
This is enough for 100 km (62 miles) according to WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure).
The driving range of the car varies from 258 to 280 miles (412 to 450 kilometers), depending on the version.
The total battery capacity is a bit more than 93 kW. Its charging time to 80% is about 23 minutes, even in real conditions.
The Taycan can be also charged with alternating current from a home electrical system.
Two Taycan Turbo’s engines develop up to 500 kW (680 hp). This is enough to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 secondsa and equals to the result of the range-topping Tesla Model S, which Porsche plans to beat on the market.
A more powerful Taycan Turbo S delivers up to 761 hp. The spurt time is 2.8 seconds here. Both versions are all-wheel drive.
