2020 BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe has been officially presented. The four-door coupe will enter the US car market in September 2019, and the Porsche Panamera fans have a full-fledged alternative.
With the launch of the 2020 BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, a new player comes to the large four-door coupe segment. The model can violate the autocracy of the Porsche Panamera.
Of course, there is the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, the Audi A7 Sportback and even the Maserati Ghibli, but the main battle, we expect, will take place between the 8 Series Gran Coupe and the Panamera.
The large coupe will cost from $84,900 for a rear-wheel-drive version. The 8 Series Gran Coupe xDrive is priced at $87,800. The high-end M850i xDrive’s price is $108,900.
For comparison: the Porsche Panamera starts at $86,300 in the United States. It is unclear now if the Gran Coupe will get a hybrid modification. The Panamera has it and costs min $102,900.
The Gran Coupe buyers will be offered two engine choices: 6- and 8-cylinder 335- and 523-hp, respectively. Four motors producing 330, 453 and 550 hp are available for the Paramera, as well as a 457-hp hybrid powertrain.
The four-door 8 Series will be put into production in July and arrive at American dealerships in September 2019.
Thus, the 8 Series family now includes four models: a classic two-door coupe, a convertible, a hot M modification and a large four-door coupe.
