Porsche has started mass production of the refreshed Macan at the Leipzig plant. The first trade car successfully passed bodywork, painting and assembly workshops, which were specially built for the release of this model.
The car in Mamba Green Metallic body color went to China, which is currently the largest market for the Porsche Macan. The model is particularly popular here: more than 100,000 units have been sold since the launch in 2014.
The consistently high demand for the compact SUV has set record growth for serial production. The new Macan manufacture at the Leipzig plant will increase to more than 420 units a day by early September. Thus, high rates at the predecessor’s level will be reached in just few days of production.
Today, the company produces over 90,000 units per year for all markets. The Porsche Macan has repeatedly ranked first in the new J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study, last time it was in 2017. The world premiere of the new Macan took place in Shanghai at the end of July 2018.
The exterior has become more sporty and up-to-date. The look of the rear is based on the laconic design of the previous model. A distinctive feature of the new Porsche Macan is a three-dimensional LED strip between the rear lights in Porsche’s style.
The most significant changes in the cabin are a 10.9-inch touchscreen of the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, new location and design of deflectors, as well as a GT Steering Wheel borrowed from the 911th.
The standard PCM provides access to new digital features such as intelligent voice control and serial online navigation. The list of equipment for comfort is extended and now includes an assistant in traffic jam, an air ionizer and a heated windshield.
