The Gotland Ring race track in Sweden has become a place for a speed test of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid SUV.
A German TV presenter and concurrently a racing driver Tim Schrick was behind the wheel.
The large SUV could lap the Ring in record 3 min 51 sec, given the fact the road was being constructed and half-paved. The vehicle rode 2.6 miles on gravel (the whole road surface is 4.6 miles).
All the action was recorder on a four-minute fun-to-watch video. Tim Schrick has shown from inside how the Cayenne made a mighty effort to keep on track.
To tell the truth, that experience initiators had no intention to set a lap time. They are not serious about this ‘record’. It was interesting for them to try.
The vehicle impressed, even on the tires (Pirelli P Zero ones) which worn out in the testing.
The Gotland Ring is a “world’s first sustainable race and test circuit.” For today, the 1.9-mile northern section is paved and in use, the 2.6-mile southern section is still unpaved. In 2021, the entire road is planned to be ready.
The total output is 670 hp and 633 lb-ft (858 Nm) of torque. An 8-speed automatic gearbox transmits power.
The model accelerates from 0 to 60 mph(97 km/h) in 3.6 seconds. The electronically limited top speed is 183 mph (295 km/h), the towing capacity is up to 6600 pounds ( 2993.7 kg).
