Porsche Cayenne Plug-In Hybrids Receive Greater Range

Porsche has increased the electric range of all its Cayenne plug-in hybrid models.

The gross capacity of the battery is 17.9 kWh now (was 14.1 kWh before). It lets enlarge the electric range of up to 30 percent.

The WLTP figures are up to 30 mi (48 km) on the E-Hybrid, and up to 26 mi (42 km) on the Turbo S E-Hybrid.

All Cayenne E-Hybrid models meet the current range criterion that entitles owners to an “E” number plate and reduced company car tax in Germany.

EPA numbers are still unknown. An average WLTP/EPA ratio is approx. 1.14.

All plug-in hybrid Cayennes have a powertrain that comprises a turbocharged engine (a 3.0-liter V6 on the E-Hybrid or a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 on the Turbo S E-Hybrid) and an electric motor integrated into an 8-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.

A purely electric top speed is 84 mph (135 km/h). The total power output is 340 kW (456 hp) and 500 kW (670.5 hp), respectively.

To improve efficiency and performance, the automaker has optimized driving modes of the standard Sport Chrono Package.

The E-Charge mode becomes more efficient than before. In the Sport and Sport Plus modes, the battery is always charged to a minimum level to provide sufficient boost options for a sporty driving style.

Now it is charged more effectively at a higher, consistent charging power, for example, at an average of 12 kW on the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid in the Sport Plus mode.

Moreover, depending on the vehicle model, a charging power of up to 7.2 kW can be achieved with the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect that offers several intelligent charging functions. You can control all functions via the Porsche Connect App as required.
