Porsche 911 Carrera S and 4S Gets 7-speed Manual Gearbox, New Options

All Porsche 911 Carrera S and 4S models for the European market have got an optional seven-speed manual transmission. It is an alternative to the standard eight-speed PDK one.

Coming it combination with the Sport Chrono package, it appeals to sporty drivers who like changing gear themselves.

The 911 Carrera S with the manual transmission accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds. The vehicle achives a top speed of 308 km/h. The DIN kerb weight of the 911 Carrera S Coupé with this gearbox is 1,480 kg. It is 45 kg less than the version with PDK.

In combination with the manual transmission, the Sport Chrono package offers an automatic rev-match function.

Besides, the 911 Carrera series received new options, not available before, namely Porsche InnoDrive and Smartlift.

The first extends functions of the adaptive cruise control system by predictively optimizing the driving speed for up to 3 km in advance. The second lets the front end lift automatically at corresponding locations where the vehicle is regularly driven.

In addition, the leather package 930 introduced with the 911 Turbo S is now optionally available for the Porsche 911 Carrera models.

It  includes quilted seat center panels and door panels, a number of extensive leather trims from the portfolio of the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.

Other new equipment options available now are new lightweight and noise-insulated glazing, the Ambient Light Design in seven colors, new exterior paint finish in Python Green.
