Two days ago the manufacture of the Polestar 2 five-door all-electric fastback started in China.
While Europe is resisting the coronavirus pandemic, China is backing up to normal life. Factories have begun to resume after shut down.
On March 24, the second model of the Polestar brand and the first all-electric product of Volvo Car Group went into production. It is part of the company’s strategy of electrification by 2025.
The Polestar 2 reaches Europe’s dealerships in summer 2020, and will be marketed in China and North America after.
Pre-orders are open at polestar.com. The prices starts at $63,000 (USA), €57,900 (Germany), £49,900 (UK).
The 300-kW four-wheel-drive Polestar 2 was unveiled in February 2019. Its 78.0-kWh battery provides 500 km (311 mi) on a single charge. The model is one of the first cars in the world to embed an infotainment system powered by Android.
The next Polestar, #3, should arrive in late 2021.
