Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV: Alternative to Diesel Power

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe will be revealed early next year.

In its move into electrification, Jeep is going to launch a plug-in hybrid Grand Cherokee with a “4xe” badge. It’ll happen as soon as in one year, while a regular 5th-generation model will probably debut on the domestic market in the third quarter of 2021.

We also hope to see a Trackhawk derivative sometime: Jeep keeps this version in mind.

Meantime, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been undergoing extensive testing in Australia. The tests should result in local suspension and towing setups.

A diesel option is not planned for the new Grand Cherokee. But the company promises that the new 4xe powertrain will be a great alternative to the diesel-powered vehicle in terms of fuel efficiency and pulling power.

Electrification brings its benefits, such as good torque, acceleration, towing capabilities. According to Jeep, “ the 4xe at the end of the day in terms of capability torque and everything is as competent as a V8 and obviously fuel economy and everything there is no comparison.”

Unlike the diesel engine, the gasoline V8 engine will most likely remain for the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
