The German automaker has annoiunced the date of the new-generation Audi Q3 world premiere and partially revealed the compасе SUV’s appearance. It will be presented on July 25, 2018.
Traditionally, the new car premiere will first be on-line, and the public debut takes place later, most likely at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Meanwhile, Audi teased us with a teaser video to see details gradually. On Wednesday it will be a culmination show.
The elements seen on the video confirm the new Audi Q3 inherit them from the brand’s latest SUVs: a massive radiator grille with a three-dimensional effect and unique daytime running lights. The model will get progressive adaptive optics with moving elements.
The car interior is likely to be fragmented in the following teasers. The Q3 will have a digital instrument panel, like all new models of the brand released after the new TT premiere.
Audi does not provide any official information about techs. The new generation SUV is known to base on the MQB platform. Thanks to this architecture the model could grow in size, providing more space for passengers, but not gaining weight.
Firstly the motor lineup can include a petrol 1.5-liter engine and a 2.0-liter diesel one with several power options. In the future an e-tron version is possible – a PHEV with 50-km driving range just on electric traction.

The Chinese Great Wall has been presented the first photos of the Wingle 7 model. It will become the flagship in the lineup of the brand’s pickups.
The new vehicles stands out among its ‘brethren’. The front end reminds the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 before restyling (pictured above) or the Ford Ranger. It has a wide radiator grille and oblong headlights.
The standard Great Wall Wingle 7 has 5,095 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,760 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm. There will be a version extended by 300 mm, 5,395 mm long and with 3,350 mm wheelbase.
The Chinese pickup truck will be equipped with a 2.0-liter 150-hp turbo diesel motor. The versions with rear and all-wheel drive are planned, but there will be only one gearbox – a 6-speed manual.
What will be the BMW 8-Series cabriolet? Photos of the new-generation BMW 8-Series convertible have been published by Auto Express. A car without camouflage was seen in Scotland.
The images show a cabriolet in the M850i xDrive modification, equipped with a petrol twin-turbo 8-cylinder 4.4-liter motor with 530 hp and the top torque of 750 Nm. The unit is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
With such a powertrain the coupe, which debuted in June, can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 miles) in 3.7 seconds.
The equipment of the M850i version also includes a self-locking rear differential, powerful brakes with 395 mm wheels and active anti-roll bars, which can be ordered as options.
Apart from the petrol engine, a diesel one will be available for the model. The 3.0-liter 6-cylinder motor outputs 320 hp and 680 Nm of torque. The coupe with this engine accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
Dynamic characteristics have not been announced yet. The sales will start in November 2018.

The UK’s Automobile Association (АА) conducted a sociological survey asking the respondents of their attitude to electric vehicles.
About half of the young people surveyed are ready to ride electric car. As for the older generation, the ratio is worse here – only about 25%.
The survey among 10,293 drivers showed that:
- the overwhelming majority of respondents (85%) say there are not enough public charging stations for electric cars;
- three quarters (76%) agree that electric cars can not travel far enough on a single charge;
- 76% believe that electric cars are too expensive;
- two-thirds (67%) think that charging takes too long;
- 67% believe the choice of models of electric vehicles is limited.
In turn, the AA experts advocate EVs, arguing that:
- the number of charging stations in the UK is 16,000 in 5,800 locations;
- the power reserve is constantly increasing, there are models with 400-km driving range;
- charging stations for recharging to 80% in 15 minutes already exist;
- there are 38 electrified models in the market of different price range: from the Renault Zoe (pictured) to the Jaguar I-Pace.
The upcoming Toyota Supra will be as rigid as the Lexus LFA supercar and is the last non-electrified sports coupe of the brand.
According to Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada, no carbon fiber is used in the car. So, the price will remain affordable due to a specific ratio of wheelbase and track. The wheelbase is shorter and the track is wider than the Toyota 86’s. The engineers gave the Supra a specific driving balance and lower center of gravity.
The model has been developed for 6 years, since 2012, twice longer than the normal 3-year cycle for vehicle development. Tada supposes some classic AE86 models owners may criticize the new car. It is not an easy thing to create traditional sports cars now due to tougher regulations.
So, the new Supra will be the last such Toyota for those who like to hear how a pure petrol engine at high revs sounds.
Previously Toyota confirmed the new Supra would be offered with 4- and inline-6-cylinder motors. It weighs around 1,500 kg and will have a high-tech interior.
Chinese car maker Geely has published photos of the first model built on a new BMA modular platform (B-segment Modular Architecture). This is a SUV with SX11 internal index, which will enter the market of China until the end of this year.
BMA became the first independent development of Geely, although it is similar to the Volvo’s CMA. According to the manufacturer, the new architecture will become a leader in scalability, powertrain and safety.
It will form the basis of future models of the brand – from sedans and crossovers to wagons and minivans. Thanks to the Multi-Power system, the BMA platform is compatible with turbo motors of 1.0, 1.4 and 1.5 liters, as well as various hybrid units.
The Geely SX11, which may be named the Xingyue, will be equipped with a 1.5-liter engine with 180 hp and 255 Nm of torque. The gearbox is five-speed automatics. A 1.0- liter motor coupled with CVT is also possible.
The SX11 is 4,330 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,609 mm high. The wheelbase is 2,600 mm By its dimensions the new Geely SUV is 95 mm shorter, 63 mm narrower and 43 mm lower than the Volvo XC40. The wheelbase of the Swedish all-terrain vehicle is larger by 102 mm.
Porsche has announced development of a new vehicle called the Project Gold. The single car in brand’s classic body of the 911 model will be unveiled on August 24, 2018 and then auctioned in 2 months.
It is a unique piece assembled in the Porsche Classic workshop and individualized by the sports car manufacturer’s designers. The car maker dedicated the car to the company’s 70th anniversary.
Porsche claims they created a “vehicle that has never existed like this before”. In the video teaser they reveal how the model will look like.
The company plans to show stages of work on the Project Gold in a series of videos: on August 3 – interior trim elements, on August 10 – body painting and on August 17 – motors and electrics.
The unique car will be exhibited at the RM Sotheby’s auction in October 27. The auction will take place at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta.
Geely is teasing with new images of the 2019 Lynk & Co 03 sedan. It is based on the concept presented at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2017.
The car shares the CMA platform with the new Volvo V40. Its design is also influenced by the Lynk & Co 01 SUV.
The photos show us sharp crease along the car’s waistline and silver trim around the window. There are intricate LED lights and twin-exit exhaust at the rear and split level headlights with separate DRLs at the front. Sportier trims are expected too.
As for the motor range, a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a new Volvo’s petrol 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine is possible, as well as the variant with a 2.0-liter unit used by the XC60 T8. The claimed driving range on only electric traction is 64 km (40 miles). An all-electric modification is not excluded too.
The concept gave an idea of how the production car’s interior may look. It will be an app-based online-connected car focused on digital technologies. In-car data will be free, for permanent connectivity.
Customer will be able to purchase the car entirely online, with all the features to be standard and the vehicle to be sold at a fixed price, delivered to doors. Subscription models will be available too.

Hyundai will develop its N performance brand. A new halo model is confirmed. It will be a bespoke standalone car which strengthens the new company’s brand and add more emotion, according to Auto Express.
This model will follow the Hyundai’s Veloster N and the i30 N hatchback and fastback. Though a production car will not arrive during the next years.
Now they are discussing in the company what the model should be – if it is a 2-seater sports car or a Kia Stinger-like performance sedan.
The next-generation i20 supermini is also expected in the Hundai’s N lineup. The N brand, we remind, was launched with the RN30 concept debuted in 2015 at the Motor Show in Frankfurt.

The all-electric Jaguar I-Pace SUV begins to go on sale. The first electric car of the British brand will meet with the American Tesla Model X in the market. What are the advantages of these models?
Both the Jaguar I-Pace and the Tesla Model X are two-motored electric vehicles. One engine is on the front and one on the rear axle.
The capacity of the I-Pace engines reaches 400 hp. The Model X has two powertrain variants – 440 and 772 hp (the second is the top P90D version). That is, the I-Pace has 4.5 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h, the Model X has 5.0 to 3.0 seconds, depending on the version.
The autonomy reserve for the British electric SUV is 480 km, for the American – from 417 to 565 km. Again, depending on the battery power.
The Tesla Model X is noticeably larger in size than the Jaguar I-Pace. Although, it is not correct to compare their level of practicality. Generally speaking, the Tesla SUV is a 6- or 7-seater, while the Jaguar is only a 5-seater.
The initial price of the Model X in Europe is about €90,000. The I-Pace in the base will cost €10,000 cheaper.
However, despite the price the Model X is well-sold. According to EAFO, the crossover is among the TOP 10 most in-demand electric vehicles in Europe.
It is also worth noting the off-road factor. Here, the Jaguar I-Pace will give odds to the Tesla Model X – the hand of Land Rover engineers is felt. In deep snow or mud, the “Briton” will not pass, but cope without problems with a country road or shallow roads, especially since the top version has an adjustable air suspension. It allows to increase the clearance to 200 mm.
Even based on these data, it can be concluded that both models are not direct competitors. In the modern market only 2 electric premium SUVs are presented so far, although both Porsche and Audi have been already in full swing preparing their offers in this segment.
As for the Jaguar I-Pace’s chances, it certainly have them in the market. It combines luxury with practicality, and power with environmental friendliness. Another thing is that the Tesla Model X shall not be its main rival.
