Order Books Opened For the Mercedes-Benz GLB In Europe: Prices, Powertrains

The Mercedes-Benz GLB will reach European dealerships in December 2019. The company has already commenced accepting orders in some countries.

Mercedes revealed prices and specifications for the all-new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB. Well, currently customers can choose from six powertrain options in Germany and four ones in Great Britain.


Prices in these markets start from €37,746.80 and £34,000 respectively.

For comparison: more urban- and hatchback-like Mercedes-Benz GLA’s starting price is €30,333.10 in Germany (£25,500 in the UK), while the larger GLC costs from €46,237.45 (£39,500).


The offered petrol options are 4-cylinders: a 1.3-liter 163-hp (120 kW, 184 lb-ft/250 Nm) in the front-wheel-drive GLB 200 (mated with a 7-speed AT) and a 2.0-liter 224-hp (165 kW, 258 lb-ft/350 Nm) in the all-wheel-drive GLB 250 4Matic.

Acceleration, top speed and combined fuel consumption figures are 9.1 s and 6.9 s, 129 mph (207 km/h) and 147 mph (236 km/h), 37.9-39.2 mpg (6.2-6.0 l/100 km) and 31.8-32.2 mpg (7.4-7.3 l/100 km), respectively.

Both are available for Germany, the first cheaper one is available for the UK.

More economical diesel options include the front-wheel-drive GLB 180 d and GLB 200 d, as well as the all-wheel-drive GLB 200 d 4Matic and GLB 220 d 4Matic, every shares the same 2.0-liter 4-cylinder power unit.

All are available in Germany, three ones (except for the 180 d) – in the United Kingdom. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic one.

The power, torque, consumption, acceleration and top speed numbers are as follows:

  • GLB 180 d – 116 hp (85 kW), 206.5 lb-ft (280 Nm), 47-48 mpg (5.0-4.9 l/100 km), 11.3 seconds, 117 mph (188 km/h);
  • GLB 200 d – 150 hp (110 kW), 236 lb-ft (320 Nm), 47-48 mpg (5.0-4.9 l/100 km), 9.0 seconds, 127 mph (204 km/h);
  • GLB 200 d 4Matic – 150 hp (110 kW), 236 lb-ft (320 Nm), 42.8-45.2 mpg (5.5-5.2 l/100 km), 9.3 seconds, 125 mph (201 km/h);
  • GLB 220 d 4Matic – 190 hp (140 kW), 295 lb-ft (400 Nm), 42.8-45.2 mpg (5.5-5.2 l/100 km), 7.6 seconds, 135 mph (217 km/h).

Customers can place their orders. The vehicles will be delivered to showrooms in the end of this year.
