The restyled Suzuki Vitara compact SUV is already available for order in some European countries. The model has changed the exterior design and received a new petrol motor.
In July 2018 the company unveiled its exterior. The crossover got a new Suzuki SX4-styled radiator grille and a new front bumper, the rear lights changed inside. The body color range expanded, new-design alloy wheels added.
In the cabin there is an upgraded instrument cluster (new graphics, a large color display in the center), new upholstery, a soft touch material of the upper panel.
The model received such safety systems as automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, reversing alarm.
The main innovation for the Vitara’s European version is a petrol turbo 1.0 Boosterjet engine (112 hp, 170 Nm), also mounted in the latest SX4 and Swift. It replaces the aspirated M16A 1.6 (120 hp, 156 Nm). A turbo V4 1.4 Boosterjet with 140 hp and 220 Nm of torque remained in the range.
The 1.0-liter turbocharged motor is mated with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.4-liter one is paired either with 6MT or 6AT. The drive is front or all-wheel. No diesel engines will be offered for the refreshed model.
The public premiere will be held in October at the Paris Motor Show. However, in some countries of Europe dealers have started to accept orders. For example, in Italy the new SUV costs from €20, 980 (by €1,720 less than for the previous car). In the Netherlands, the Vitara costs from €21,999 (€200 more than the predecessor). Sales should start in mid-October.
