The new Opel Grandland X Hybrid4 with 300hp goes on sale in 2020.
A plug-in hybrid modification of the Grandland X SUV has been presented. It is the first most significant result of the purchase of Opel by PSA. The model shares the powertrain with the same-platform-based Peugeot 3008 GT Hybrid4.
The Opel (Vauxhall in the UK) Grandland X Hybrid4 is equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline 200-hp turbo-4 and two electric motors of total 109hp. The overall output is claimed to achieve 300hp.
One of the electric motors is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the other is built into the rear axle. That is, the Grandland X Hybrid4 is an all-wheel-drive vehicle. The electric-only driving range is about 31mi / 50km.
Under normal conditions, the SUV works in a front-wheel-drive mode. The rear electric motor is activated only to increase traction. The unit can also operate in a fully electric mode with periodic connection of the gasoline engine at medium and high loads.
The public debut of the first Opel hybrid SUV will be held in the fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In 2020, deliveries will start. There is no information of pricing yet. The regular Grandland X costs from €24,250 or about $27,250.
