Audi continues working on the refreshed 2019 Audi A6 Allroad. Car paparazzi’s cameras has captured one of the prototypes during testing.
It is the car with high ground clearance, four-wheel drive and underbody protection, steeper approach and departure angles and adjustable self-leveling suspension. The A6 Allroad will challenge the Volvo V90 Cross Country and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain.
The A6 Allroad is built on the MLB platform modified for FWD and AWD vehicles with longitudinally mounted engines. Such architecture allows weight saving, adds interior space and is compatible with plug-in hybrid options.
The new Audi A6 sedan goes on sale this year as a 2019 model. Initially it will have one powertrain including a 3.0-liter six-cylinder 340-hp turbo motor with 500 Nm of torque (369 lbft) and mild-hybrid technology.
The engine is mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. We expect the A6 Allroad gets the same engine and 1-2 diesel ones.
This modification will enter the EU market in the first part of 2019. It is still unknown whether the A6 Allroad will join to the Audi A6, S6, A4 Allroad in the US car market.
