Nissan Turned Navara Pickup Into Mobile Observatory

Nissan turned the Navara pickup into a mobile observatory. The company created the Nissan Navara Dark Sky Concept which is a refined version to be used by astronomers.

The car is being showcased at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2018 in Hannover, which has opened today and lasts till September 27.

Nissan has already created futuristic models like the Star Wars Edition line prototypes. But the new Dark Sky is really unique. Built is partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA), this is a mobile astronomical laboratory for the stars observation.

The main feature of the model is a specially designed trailer, which hides the PlaneWave telescope to observe the celestial bodies. To improve passability in off road conditions, the pickup truck got the latest-generation ProPilot electronic assistant.

The vehicle is space-styled with black and white colors and orange accents, red LED backlight in the grille, additional lighting. The pickup also received unique wheels with off-road tires.

The Nissan Navara has no technical changes. A standard 187-hp 2.3-liter turbo diesel motor remained.
