Nissan Titan: Leave or Stay?

The Nissan Titan is a nice reliable pickup truck, but rivals overtop it.

The Nissan Titan was discontinued in Canada after the 2021 model year. The same will happen very likely with the Titan in the USA in the coming years unless the company launches a redesigned model for 2024 MY instead – that’s still not out of the question.

What’s Wrong With the Nissan Titan?

The truck offers fewer powertrain options and body configurations than competitors, actually, only one for today: a 5.6-liter Endurance V8 with 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission driving either rear or all four wheels.

The Titan is available with a long list of standard features, including such pleasant ones as an intelligent around-view monitor, Nissan Concierge (24-hour access to a live assistant), and a 12-speaker Fender premium audio system.

Moreover, it has good warranty coverage. For example, every 2023 Titan comes standard with America’s Best Truck Warranty that offers bumper-to-bumper coverage of 5 years / 100,000 miles.

With all the obvious advantages, the model has serious disadvantages which don’t allow it to be ranked high in the class, especially when compared with the latest Ford F-150 or the Toyota Tundra:

  • Some low-rent interior materials
  • Mediocre towing capacity
  • Scarce choice of engine options and body configurations
  • Rivals provide a more complete driving experience, better 2-row seating, more user-friendly and high-tech infotainment systems
  • Comparatively high base price

2023 Nissan Titan

The automaker has just announced pricing for the 2023 Titan. The new pickup is slightly more expensive than the 2022 model introduced in January.

King Cab models now cost from $41,495 to $50,165, and the Crew Cab versions are priced between $43,285 and $63,775 including a destination and handling charge, before tax and other fees.

The Titan has received minor changes for the 2023 model year. They are a standard wireless Apple CarPlay on PRO-4X, Platinum Reserve trim levels, and a new Midnight Edition with black exterior and interior detailing, black 20-inch wheels. This package is available for the Crew Cab SV variant.
