Nissan Gives up a Tablet in Favor of a Horizontal Wave Display

Nissan says “No” to tablets. The Ariya Concept presents a futuristic horizontal ‘wave’ display tailored for the human eye.

In attempt to balance design, technology and utility, the Japanese carmaker uses a curved display instead of a conventional tablet-like screen, which is a seamless part of the dashboard and adds the sense of a “horizon”.

The new layout for the display can be seen in the Nissan Ariya Concept. It reflects the brand’s Timeless Japanese Futurism design language.

Nissan claims such a layout allows a human eye to perceive information better and does so from a safer location – in the line of sight, closer to the road.

The Nissan Ariya Concept’s display keeps driving data in the instrument cluster, while displaying entertainment information, comfort controls and system status in the center screen.
