Next GMC Canyon Gets a Premium Off-Roading Performance Package

The new-generation GMC Canyon will be unveiled in summer, and it will be the second model of the brand, after the 2022 Sierra, to get an AT4X version.

The other day, GMC teased the next Canyon and confirmed the AT4X trim level would join this mid-size truck lineup. The manufacturer claims the AT4X variant is a peak in premium off-roading performance, an off-road optimized evolution of GMC’s popular AT4 sub-brand.

The key distinguishers of the AT4X include 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a certain badging, and rocker protectors. The debut of the new-gen GMC Canyon and Canyon AT4X is scheduled for the summer of 2022.

AT4 trim: what is it and why is liked?

GMC offers AT4 on most of its trucks and SUVs, such as the Yukon, Canyon, Sierra HD, Sierra 1500, and the Acadia. This capable trim level features an aggressive appearance inside and out including recovery hooks, 20-inch carbon gray wheels with all-terrain tires, a unique grille with an integrated skid plate, brushed aluminum appointments, and Brandy accents in the cabin.

Among off-road features this package provides, there is an AutoTrac two-speed transfer case, a Traction Select System, a two-inch factory lift for additional ground clearance, Rancho shocks to crawl over craggy terrain, Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control.

Moreover, the AT4 trim comes standard with Magnetic Ride Control that intelligently adjusts suspension based on more than 1,000 road inputs per second.
