A full-size Toyota Land Cruiser SUV of the next generation will have new turbocharged V6 engines and a hybrid powertrain.
The Toyota Land Cruiser is currently on sale in the United States with a single gasoline 5.7-liter V8 producing 381 hp. The SUV is also offered with an 8-cylinder diesel motor in other markets.
Bernard Nadal, responsible for Product Planning & Pricing at Toyota Australia, paid attention to an interseting trend in an interview with CarAdvice.
He said most automotive brands refused V8 engines. Automakers strive to improve fuel efficiency and reduce harmful emissions.
The senior manager indirectly confirmed that the new Land Cruiser would receive 6-cylinder turbo engines.
Insiders inform the motors are under development. A hybrid modification arrives later, although it is unclear how fans of the charismatic SUV will accept a ‘green’ LC.
The next-gen model will premiere in late 2021. Toyota has manufactured the current-generation vehicle since 2007.
