Nissan plans to unveil the new-generation 2021 Frontier pickup truck by the end of this year.
The coronavirus changes the schedules of many automakers, but regarding the next Frontier (Navara), Nissan still wants to keep to the plan. The 2021 model designed for America should be introduced in late 2020.
The revised 2020 vehicle goes on sale this spring with a new 3.8-liter V6 and a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The same engine from the VQ series will carry over to the next-gen Frontier.
This mill is lighter, more efficient and powerful than the previous 4.0-liter unit. The transmission is similar to that of the Nissan Titan, but has different gear ratios and shift logic.
The new Nissan Frontier will be less heavy and more aerodynamic than the current pickup, from which it takes some components.
While the outgoing Frontier produces 18 mpg (city) and 24 mpg (highway) in its most efficient two-wheel-drive version, the new-generation model will be even more economical.
