BMW announces it will launch a pure electric version of the 7 Series.
So, the BMW 7 Series will offer a choice of powertrains – gasoline (petrol), diesel, plug-in hybrid, electric only. The last of the mentioned is BMW’s “fifth-generation electric drivetrain”, as the company claims.
The solution to offer an electric car is logical, given the rivaling models, such as the Jaguar XJ or the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, will have their electric variants.
The current sixth generation (G11/G12) of the flagship sedan has been in production since 2015 as a 2016 model. The car was updated for 2020.
Now the 7 Series retail prices start from $86,800 (USA, sedan), £69,565 (UK, saloon), €90,200 (German, limousine).
The next-generation 7 Series probably arrives in 2022, the all-electric version would follow in 2023.
