New Seat Tarraco SUV Seems Similar To Volkswagen Tiguan

Seat’s largest SUV has been officially presented In Spain. The Tarraco model looks similar to the relative Volkswagen Tiguan and will be available for order in Europe late 2018.

The Seat Tarraco is built on the VW’s MQB platform. The brand’s new flagship is almost identical to the Volkswagen Tiguan crossover in the profile, and it is practically commensurate by length with its Allspace seven-seater version (4735 vs 4701 mm). The wheelbases are the same.

The Tarraco will be assembled at the same car factory in Wolfsburg, where they produce the Tiguan Allspace. Like the Czech Skoda Kodiaq, the standard Seat Tarraco is a seven-seater.

Initially, the motor range will include two petrol engines – 1.5 TSI and 2.0 TSI with 150 and 190 hp, and a diesel 2.0 TDI in two power options (150 and 190 hp). The front-wheel-drive Tarraco has a 6-speed manual transmission. The all-wheel drive version uses a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG.

The Seat’s flagship crossover is unlikely lure customers of the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq. It is larger than even the Tiguan Allspace, which has insufficient space in the third row.

The Tarraco is smaller and cheaper than the Volkswagen Tuareg. The prices for the Spanish SUV have not been announced yet. The estimated price for the base model is $32,00-33,000.

The 2019 Seat Tarraco can be ordered in December 2018 in some European countries. The model will start arriving to all Seat dealerships from the beginning of 2019..
