New Range Rover Will Arrive in 2021 Electrified
The new-generation Land Rover Range Rover will enter the market early next decade. When developing, a lot of attention has been paid to its electrification.
The most important and anticipated new product from Land Rover, after the new Defender debuts, will be the fifth-generation Range Rover. It is expected in 2021, according to Autocar.
The next Range Rover will be based on a completely new aluminum MLA platform. This architecture is much lighter than the current Jaguar Land Rover chassis and allows mounting conventional engines, hybrid systems and electric drives.
The most popular version of the Range Rover 5 is expected to be a hybrid one. The electric motor in it combines with the recently introduced Ingenium inline-6.
Land Rover engineers hope that a combination of the new architecture and reduced engine size will compensate the battery weight. The mild-hybrid variants will arrive too.
The first global Land Rover electric car will be the so-called Road Rover, which is much lower and more aerodynamic than other Range Rovers.
