The new top model of the 718 range, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, is ready for its world premiere in November. The new car showed its dynamic potential in the final tests at the Nürburgring track.
Porsche’s driver Jörg Bergmeister covered 20,832 meters of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a pre-production 718 Cayman GT4 RS in 7 minutes 9.3 seconds. The shorter 20.6-kilometer lap, which previously served as a reference point, was covered by the sports car in 7 minutes and 4.511 seconds. That’s 23.6 seconds less than the 718 Cayman GT4 without RS.
Bergmeister called the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS “uncompromising driving force”. The pilot noted the agility of go-karting on mountain roads, striking stability and at the same time good balance on the race track. Otherwise, it would be impossible to complete the circle in such a time.
In the end, the pilot called the GT4 RS one of the coolest cars Porsche has ever developed.
GT Line Director Andreas Preuninger, for his part, said that the surprisingly fast lap times of the Nordschleife are convincing proof of how clearly noticeable the improvement in driving dynamics is in the RS version.
The world premiere of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, we recall, will take place in November 2021.
