New Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Offers a More Efficient Powertrain Portfolio

Refreshed Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van comes with an all-new all-wheel-drive system and advanced engine lineup.

On March 8, Mercedes-Benz Vans USA introduced the AWD system and the range of new four-cylinder diesel and gasoline engines for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

The engine portfolio now includes a new, more capable OM654 engine in two power output variants – 125 kW (168 hp) and 155 kW (208 hp). A 9G-TRONIC transmission, also new, now comes as standard.

Compared to the previous 7G-TRONIC transmission, this 9-speed one provides more driving comfort, less fuel consumption and lower emissions, a higher overall gear ratio, more agile acceleration.

The former 4×4 system is replaced by the new all-wheel-drive system that enables more endurance, power, seamless transition with up to 50 percent of automatic torque split per axle (previously it was 35 percent to the front and 65 percent to the rear axle).

In early 2023, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will be available in the USA.
