The first-ever Mazda CX-50 made its virtual world debut on November 15, 2021. The model will go into production in January 2022.
Mazda North American Operations hosted the premiere of the Mazda CX-50. The company developed the model specifically for North America and plans to launch it into production at a new Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) plant in Huntsville, Alabama early next year.
In addition to excellent driving dynamics, beautiful and functional Kodo design, the CX-50 has extended capability for outdoor activities in all-terrain. In particular, the vehicle’s length and height are good to easily load and secure common outdoor equipment. Its high-strength roof rails, reinforced B-pillars and door jambs add to the usability of securing equipment on the roof.
The latest i-Activ All-Wheel Drive technology is standard for the model, as well as Mi-Drive or Mazda Intelligent Drive Select to switch proper drive modes depending on conditions.
At launch, the Mazda CX-50 comes with a Skyactiv-G 2.5 naturally aspirated engine or a Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine in pair with a responsive 6-speed automatic transmission. A traditional hybrid and other electrified variants will be eventually available.
The cabin of the new model is driver-focused, well-crafted. It offers comfort for all passengers, uses blended seating materials and details inspired by modern outdoor gear. The cargo space is designed to help support and enable outdoor activities.
Moreover, the CX-50 debuts a panoramic moonroof, new colors including terracotta for interior and Zircon Sand for the exterior.
