New Land Rover Defender Will Get a Version With a Powerful V8 Engine

The Defender SVR’s pre-production prototype is undergoing road tests.

Land Rover readies to produce a top version of the latest-generation Defender SUV. Its official premiere is expected in the second half of 2021. The test prototype with a powerful eight-cylinder engine has been spotted on one of the public roads in the UK, Auto Express reports.

Spy shots of the Defender SVR are of high quality. The test vehicle is the Defender 110, a hot three-door Defender 90 can also appear.

By the nameplate, British journalists found out that the prototype comes with the 5.0-liter V8 with over 500 hp.

The new Defender rides on the all-new, super-stiff aluminum-intensive platform which greatly simplifies the chassis setup for the performance variant. Land Rover claims the Defender SVR will retain its high off-road potential.

Apart from the world-class off-roading abilities, the 2020 Land Rover Defender features a comfortable ride and balanced handling. The model can boast supple seats and a long list of standard equipment, but its interior quality could be better, and the Defender 90’s cargo space is insufficient.

  1. “Besides, the vehicle has below-average predicted reliability rating”
Not a particularly factual report when you add rubbish like this. How the hell are you supposed to predict a reliability rating when it’s a totally new vehicle?
is this just based on the Leyland years that is still haunting Land Rover?
