General Motors have refreshed the GMC Sierra 1500 for the 2022 model year. The carmaker is going to show the truck to the public in two weeks – precisely, on October, 21.

This time, we mean a full refresh and you should not confuse with the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and an intermediate version – 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 designated as “Limited”. Both landed later than GM initially planned due to the coronavirus pandemic-caused complications.

The GMC Sierra 1500 is a ‘corporate fellow’ of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. So, it is normal the 2022 Sierra will debut after the 2022 Silverado and will bring similar changes, including a revised front fascia, air curtains which help reduce aerodynamic drag and up fuel returns.

Also, expect to find significant updates in the cabin, in particular, a fully new center stack configuration, slim horizontal air vents, a large center-mounted infotainment display. A Denali trim with exclusive features should be available.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 with the ride of General Motors’ global B electrical platform that adopts the Super Cruise tech. As for the engine range, there will be an upgraded gasoline 2.7-liter turbo-four L3B engine providing one fifth more torque, and a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder LM2 Duramax turbocharged diesel unit.  The towing capacity of diesel-powered versions should increase from a decent 9,300 to excellent 13,300 pounds.

Now a few words about sales. In the 3rd quarter of this year, GMC Sierra sales amounted to 52,774 units versus 67,812 sales a year earlier. It’s a nice result, indeed, though not as good as the Chevy Silverado’s figures of 123,067 vehicles in Q3 2021 vs 147,484 sales in Q3 2020.
