The 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit will host an important premiere. On January, 14, 2019 Ford will introduce a new generation of the Mustang Shelby GT500, as officially confirmed.
The fans of the model expected its appearance at the LA Auto Show taking place these days. Actually, the manufacturer exposed a Ford Mustang, but not the new one.
Visitors of the car show could see the classic Shelby GT500 of 1967. Moreover, Ford has officially announced the date of the debut of the popular sports car.
So, now we know that the next-generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will be unveiled early next year, on January 14 in Detroit, USA at the 2019 NAIAS (held on January 13-28).
Ford published a teaser on it Facebook page, which, first, confirms the debut date and, second, hints at the estimated engine power.
The V8 compressor motor will produce more than 650 hp, which makes it the most powerful unit of this type in the history of the brand.
According to preliminary data, the rear-wheel-drive Shelby GT500 will get only a seven-speed double-clutch automatic gearbox. No manual transmission expected, at least at the start of sales.
The Shelby was a high-tech modification of the Ford Mustang. Ford produced it from 1965 to 1970. In 2007, following the introduction of the fifth generation Mustang, the Shelby name was returned for new high-performance versions.
