New BMW 1 Series and 3 Series Got 5 Stars From Euro NCAP

Euro NCAP has published fresh safety ratings of four new cars: BMW 1 Series and 3 Series, the Jeep Cherokee and the Peugeot 208.

BMW cars are rated the top 5 Stars, the Jeep and Peugeot vehicles gets 4 Stars.

The 3rd-generation BMW 1 Series (pictured above) with front-wheel drive achieves the highest five-star rating. Its front seats miss a ‘good’ rating for Whiplash protection. So, the score in adult occupant protection is not as high as it could be, and, besides, it does not include the full marks for the AEB City performance.

The restyled 7th-generation BMW 3 Series shows the best safety performance among large family cars, which the European New Car Assessment Program tested against the 2018 and 2019 protocols.

The new Peugeot 208 drops a star compared to the previous model. The latter had fewer standard safety features, but its crash tests were conducted against less strict requirements in 2012.

The subcompact car gains 5 Stars in all areas, excluding the vulnerable road users protection. Thus, its overall score is 4 Stars only.

The new Jeep Cherokee is a confident four-star winner. Its performance is good, but not perfect. Compared with the last-year testee, the Jeep Wrangler, the Cherokee has much better safety level.
