The latest spy photos show a duo of the new-generation Audi S3 prototypes. A production version should debut in the next few weeks.
Audi S high-performance models, we remind, were direct competitors to BMW M and Mercedes-AMG cars in the past. Since 2010, S-badged Audis have been positioned more as optional engine trims.
The test cars in the photos are the S3 Sportback and Sedan. Lack of camouflage allows seeing details. The carmaker is testing different sets of wheels, so, customers will have what to choose from.
Expect improvements in steering, suspension, AWD system to make the upcoming S3 the “most dynamic model in the segment.” In addition, the model will get specific Bridgestone tires.
It is known the next Audi S3 will be powered by a tuned 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine making 306 hp (228 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque, mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
