The next-gen 2022 Lexus NX is introduced. It offers a new multimedia system, four new powertrains including the first plug-in hybrid in the brand’s lineup.

Toyota’s luxury brand launches the Lexus NX for the 2022 model year. The new vehicle has got a comprehensive redesign inside out. It becomes longer, taller, wider, offers more space for passengers and cargo.

Exterior changes include a refined signature spindle grille, a full-width taillight, a new block LEXUS rear badging. In the cabin, the model introduces the all-new Lexus Interface multimedia. The system provides intuitive features, such as wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto, Voice Assistant, Digital Key, over-the-air updates, cloud navigation capable of Google Points of Interest (POI).

Powertrains

Lexus updates the hybrid powertrain on NX 350h.  It comprises a gasoline 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with a pair of high-torque electric drive motor-generators. The total system output is 239 horsepower. The 0-60 acceleration is 7.2 seconds now – 1.5 seconds faster than before. Combined fuel economy achieves 39 mpg according to EPA estimates.

The NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid version debuts on the second-generation Lexus NX. Its EPA range is 36 miles on electric-only power, the fuel efficiency is equivalent to 84 MPGe combined. The sprint time from zero to 60 mph takes 6.0 seconds.

Other powertrain choices are a 2.4L turbocharged engine with 275 hp and 317 lb-ft on the NX 350, and a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder unit with start/stop functionality on the NX 250. That engine produces 203 hp and 184 pound-feet of torque. Both variants are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy figures are 25 mpg and 28 mpg in the combined cycle, respectively.

The Lexus NX employs an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system.

Pricing

The 2022 Lexus NX’s manufacturer’s suggested retail price starts at $39,025 for the base front-wheel-drive NX 250. Other prices are the following:

  • $40,625 for NX 250 AWD
  • $42,625 for NX 350
  • $42,125 for NX 350h
  • $56,635 for NX 450h+

All prices include a delivery, processing and handling fee.

The 2022 Lexus NXs will reach the U.S. dealer showrooms in December 2021. Production will begin at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada early next year.
