New 2022 Lexus LX Officially Debuts on October 13

Lexus has announced the date of the new-generation 2022 Lexus LX digital world premiere. It’ll happen on October 13, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

On Wednesday next week, Toyota’s luxury brand will unveil the all-new Lexus LX in a digital format at  12:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. GMT or on October 14 at 1:30 a.m. JST.

Today Lexus has shared a teaser video previewing the event. The teaser shows a wide LED light bar and an LX 600 badge. Back in 2019, the brand filed to trademark this name in the USA and other countries.

On the eve of the debut, let’s remember what we know about the model. The Lexus LX is an analog of the Toyota Land Cruiser for the U.S. market. The new-gen Toyota Land Cruiser won’t be offered in America, but its sibling under the Lexus brand will be. These two are platform-mates: the new TNGA-F architecture cut up to 441 pounds of weight. They should also share the engine lineup.

The Land Cruiser already debuted, so we know what it has under the hood, and what the 2022 Lexus LX will probably have there. Thus, a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 making 409 hp and 479 lb-ft will come as a more powerful and efficient replacement to the old naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V8.

A diesel option – the twin-turbo V6 with 3.3 liters of displacement, 305 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque could be also available for the new Lexus LX in some markets, as well as a naturally-aspirated six-cylinder unit. The vehicle will feature either a six-speed or a ten-speed automatic transmission, depending on the engine choice.

In terms of new technologies, the next Lexus LX is definitely no worse than the Land Cruiser. Most likely, it will be even more refined and bring many ‘goodies’, one of which is a fingerprint authentication system with a 360-degree camera.

Sales of the new-generation Lexus LX in North America should begin in the first half of next year.
