Most Sustainable Ever 2023 Kia Niro Debuts at Seoul

The next-generation 2023 Kia Niro has been unveiled today at the 2021 Seoul Mobility Show. The model is on display there till December 5, 2021. From next year, it will be available with pure electric, regular hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The all-new 2023 Kia Niro is making its debut today, on November 25, 2021 in the capital of South Korea. The vehicle targets sustainability-conscious consumers.

The refreshed, HabaNiro concept-inspired exterior and innovative interior with eco-friendly materials represent the brand’s next step toward a more sustainable future. For the new Niro, Kia applies its ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy that ‘Joy for Reason’ ethos.

Kia is in no hurry to reveal the powertrain details. But we know the Niro will have EV, PHEV and HEV versions. A specific ‘Greenzone Drive Mode’ automatically transfers a (plug-in) hybrid drive mode into a fully electric one.

The vehicle is able to recognize the areas which are registered as green zones in the navigation system. The Kia Niro will automatically use electric power based on driving history and navigation cues, when driving in green zones. Such zones include residential areas, hospitals and schools nearby, as well as homes and offices.

As for the new exterior, it features a wide pillar, simple surface treatments with dynamic sections at the rear, a two-tone body, a transformed ‘tiger face’, ‘heartbeat’ LED daytime running lights, a unique vertical taillight design.

The cabin uses new recycled materials: recycled wallpaper, Bio PU with Tencel from eucalyptus leaves, and BTX free paint. There is an off-center dashboard, an easy-to-operate gloss-black center console with an electronic dial-type shift lever, an audio-visual screen. Air vents are incorporated within the diagonal gaps of the dash. Ambient lighting creates various moods.

The seating is slim, roomy, and comfortable thanks to a high-tech lightweight seat mechanism. A pleasant detail is a back cover of thin headrests which incorporates a convenient coat hanger.

The 2023 Kia Niro will go on sale in 2022 with details and more precise timelines to come over the next few months.
