The Volkswagen Golf R 20 Years edition with 328 horsepower is the most powerful production Golf ever. The carmaker has recently unveiled it. The car goes on sale in 2022 and will be available until mid-2023.
The other day, the Wolfsburg-based company revealed a hotter modification of its famous model, namely the Volkswagen Golf R 20 Years, as an anniversary edition dedicated to the birthday of the R performance brand. Customers will be able to order the car for a limited time.
In 2002, Volkswagen launched the V6-powered Golf R32 which was the model’s fastest version. Now the Golf R 20 Years edition takes the title of the quickest and most powerful production Golf.
This all-wheel-drive variant received the mechanicals from the R-Performance Pack, but a 2.0-liter turbo-four got a power boost to 328 hp – an extra 13 horsepower out of the engine. The car’s new Emotion Start system flares the revs to 2,500 rpm on startup.
The automaker upgraded the engine, recalibrated it as well as and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
While the Volkswagen Golf R accelerates from 0 to 62 mph within 4.7 seconds, the Golf R 20 Years will do it in a shorter time. The vehicle comes with a torque-vectoring rear differential, additional ‘Special’ and ‘Drift’ driving modes, a roof spoiler, 19-inch alloy wheels, a unique ‘20’ badge, and a ‘20 R’ puddle light when unlocking the vehicle.
The interior features door panel inserts and a dashboard of carbon fiber. A steering wheel, a key fob, and sports seats have a blue R branding.
The Volkswagen Golf R 20 Years pricing will be announced closer to an on-sale date, still unknown. Sales should begin this year.
