A new edition model – the MINI Sidewalk Convertible – has been presented.
The MINI Convertible Sidewalk global sales will start from March, 2020. Its direct predecessor is the MINI Convertible Highgate.
The open-top 4-seater model features exclusive exterior paintwork, including Deep Laguna, hood stripes with contrasting color edges, unique soft top design, special 17-inch Scissor Spoke 2-tone light alloy wheels. The car’s side scuttles bear the “Sidewalk” model designation.
Inside, there are model-specific interior fittings and accents: “Sidewalk” lettering, MINI Yours Leather Lounge Sidewalk upholstery, Petrol and Energetic Yellow seams, backlit decorative trim in Piano Black, others.
The new edition vehicle features the Sidewalk Chili equipment package, a storage package, interior lighting packs.
The MINI Sidewalk Convertible got LED headlamps an fog lights, the MINI Driving Modes, automatic air conditioning, a height-adjustable front passenger seat.
Three petrol engines with MINI TwinPower Turbo technology are available: two 1.5-liter 3-cylinders with 102 hp (75 kW) and 136 hp (100 kW), as well as a 4-cylinder one with 192 hp (141 kW). Combined fuel consumption is near 5.4 l/100 km (43.6 mpg).
All engines are combined with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. A 7-speed dual-clutch Steptronic gearbox is optional for the MINI Cooper Convertible Sidewalk and the MINI Cooper S Convertible Sidewalk versions.
The latter also comes with a 7-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. It is operated by paddles on the steering wheel and provides faster gear shifts.
MINI offers a wide range of options for all engine variants.
The Mini Convertible is priced from €23,700 in Germany, £20,085 in Great Britain, $28,400 in the USA. The new special Sidewalk edition will probably cost more.
