In the Armed Forces of Ukraine civilian vehicles are widely used, including off road ones.
We’ve conducted our own little research and found out which off road SUVs are most valued by Ukrainian military men.
For obvious reasons, we cannot name the category of respondents, but, firstly, they are military personnel, and, secondly, the number of answers received is quite enough for statistics and representativeness of the survey.
5. Hyundai Galloper
The model was produced from 1991 to 2003, but even for now there are many announcements about its sale on the secondary market. The Galloper was developed on the basis of the first -generation Mitsubishi Pajero and sold under the Japanese brand in some countries. Its engines are petrol and diesel. The most powerful of them is a 3.0-liter petrol 6-cylinder one with 160 hp.
4. Opel Frontera
It was produced from 1991 to 2004. Actually this is a reworked Isuzu Wizard. There is the Frontera A version and the younger Frontera B. The SUV was also produced in a three-door body: it’s about the Frontera Sport. A wide motor range was offered including petrol and diesel units from 100 to 205 hp.
3. Jeep Cherokee
The charismatic SUV has been produced for 45 years. In the Armed Forces of Ukraine the Cherokee XJ version is prefferred, which was released from 1984 to 2001. Apart from the USA, it was built in China and Venezuela.
2. Isuzu Trooper
The same as the Opel Monterey. Produced from 1981 to 2002. Two generations. In the army they especially appreciate the second generation model with a 3.1-liter 125-hp turbo diesel engine. The motor line-up also includes other engines, but this one features high fuel efficiency.
1. Nissan Patrol
The Patrol is one of the five most popular off road SUVs on the planet. The model has been produced since 1951. The most demanded in the Ukrainian army are the third and fourth generation vehicles, which were produced in the periods 1980-1989 and 1987-1997 respectively.
