Mercedes Earns Significantly More Thanks to Price Increases

The Stuttgart automaker has increased sales in 2022 by 12 percent to 150 billion euros. This year, the management is preparing shareholders for lower profits in key areas.

Last year, Mercedes-Benz saw significantly higher profits thanks to luxury models and higher prices, WirtschaftsWoche reports. The result of the Stuttgart automaker was 14.8 billion euros. This is a third more than in the previous year.

Mercedes increased sales in 2022 by 12 percent to 150 billion euros. The company delivered slightly fewer cars to customers, but roughly 5 percent more were sold wholesale to 2.04 million. Sales of top-of-the-range models such as the S-Class, cars from subsidiary AMG, and luxury brand Maybach have increased, meaning more profits. Group earnings before interest rose 20 percent to 20.66 billion euros.

In 2023, the management is preparing shareholders for lower returns in key areas. The company expects prices to rise. On the other hand, the used car business is expected to decline compared to the previous year.
