Mercedes Develops a Rival For the Audi A4 Allroad

An off-road station wagon will join the new-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class family.

Pre-production prototypes of the next-generation Mercedes C-Class have repeatedly become preys of car paparazzi.

A sedan will go into production first. The company will also develop an off-road wagon on the basis of a new Comfortklasse.

Thus, the Audi A4 Allroad and Volvo V60 Cross Country will get a direct competitor, dangerous enough.

Mercedes-Benz’s model range already includes a cross-wagon – the E-Class All-Terrain (pictured above). The automer launched it in 2016. The car went on sale in spring 2017.

The future C-Class All-Terrain will not only be smaller in size, but also cheaper to attract more customers.

The C-Class wagon is expected to get a protective body kit, increased ground clearance and all-wheel drive.

The E-Class All-Terrain uses an adaptive air suspension. It is possible the junior All-Terrain will get it as an additional option.

The new model will also receive enhanced body bottom protection. An electrified version may join in the future.

The next-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class is built on the MRA platform fitted for hybrid modifications.

It will likely debut next year.
