Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX With 600+ Mile Range Debuts Tomorrow

On January 3, 2022, the Stuttgart-based automaker formally unveils its most efficient model ever – the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX Concept.

The digital world premiere of the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX concept car will take place in a livestream on January 3, at 6:00 p.m. Central European Time or at 12 p.m. (noon) Eastern Time. The carmaker says the battery-electric luxury sedan’s driving range on a full charge will exceed 620 miles.

The company promises an energy consumption of nearly 200 miles per gallon equivalent (6 mi/kWh) at highway speeds: that makes the car the most efficient Mercedes-Benz ever.

Currently, the Mercedes model with the longest range is the EQS sedan: it is equipped with a 107.8-kWh battery allowing the vehicle to cover 435 miles on a single charge according to the European test cycle.

To provide the highest level of efficiency, the Vision EQXX’s battery pack capacity should be more than 100 kWh, in theory. Given the sedan’s slippery teardrop shape to limit the aerodynamic drag, and its estimated driving range, the manufacturer will likely fit a battery pack with a relatively small capacity. We’ll know it for sure tomorrow.

The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX gives us the idea of the brand’s future electrification plans.
