Mercedes-Benz GLC Became No.1 In Luxury Mid-Size SUV Segment
According to sales results in 2018, the Mercedes-Benz GLC became a best-seller in the luxury mid-size SUV segment of the European market.
Last year Mercedes GLC overtook competitors in Europe by a large margin. Compared to 2017, it sales grew by 13% and exceeded 125,000 units. For comparison: the Volvo XC60, which was the second, amounted to 80,000 vehicles.
The European TOP 10 luxury mid-size SUVs also included the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Range Rover Velar, Jaguar F-Pace, Lexus NX and the Porsche Macan.
The BMW X3’s result is interesting. Its new generation launch spurred demand by 54%. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio also surprised: +75% (30,000 units sold).
The Range Rover Velar started excellent: +175%. Frankly, the British crossover was not sold the whole 2017, therefore, the base for comparison is low.
As for the Mercedes-Benz GLC, very soon its updated version goes on sale. The 2020 GLC is debuting at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
