The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLB has recently been presented. The model goes into production soon in China and Mexico. Expect it on sale by the end of this year.
Mercedes unveiled the ‘younger brother’ of its iconic Geländewagen: a SC 037 concept car (Showcar Number 37) was showcased at Auto Shanghai 2019. The carmaker hopes it’ll be one of the most successful models of the brand.
Meanwhile, they’ve confirmed a production model will be assembled at Peking and Aguascalientes plants in China and Mexico. The key markets for the newcomer will be China and the USA. The Mercedes-Benz GLB should arrive in dealerships in late 2019.
As for the versions, the manufacture will most likely offer one of AMG cars: a GLB 35 (with a 2.0-liter 306hp turbo motor) or even a hotter GLB 45 S with over 400 horsepower. The MFA2 platform the Mercedes GLB is built on and availability of front- or all-wheel drive allow variations.
We know Mercedes has been testing a fully electric modification. The EQB, a smaller brother for the EQC, possibly comes in 2021.
Being a compact vehicle, the GLB provides the 3-row layout for 7 occupants, as well as all-terrain features. So, we eventually expect variety of modifications and configurations including the motor range wide enough.
