The 2020 Mercedes-Benz EQC planned to arrive in 2020 will get a hot version then. The AMG modification will have the same battery pack as the standard EQC, but more potent engines. Its arrival time is still unknown, but it’ll be after the carmaker launches the EQC SUV, the EQA compact hatchback and the EQS sedan.
Daimler Board Member Ola Källenius stated he could “see a pairing between EQ and AMG.” In the EQC‘s AMG version the performance will a priority and get over the driving range. This can be achieved thanks to more powerful motors.
The regular Mercedes-Benz EQC will produce total 402 hp and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds. All this will be provided by an 80-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and electric engines – one on each axis.
Mercedes-AMG also plans to launch PHEVs under EQ Power Plus name in 2020. Their powertrain will include an eight-cylinder twin-turbo motor in pair with an electric one.
For those customers who want to own an electric crossover today, there are offers from Tesla, Jaguar, Audi, Kia. It is about the Model X and the I-Pace which are on sale now, as well as the Audi e-tron and the Kia Niro EV to arrive in 2019.
