The Mercedes-Benz CLA has become the confident segment leader in the USA in the 1st half of 2018 standings. It had the best sales and growth results among others premium compact cars.
The segment declined by 9.8% as of 6 month of 2018, its falling speeded up in Q2 compared to Q1. Sales totaled 38,690 units.
Experts of Carsasalbase foresee the Premium Compact Segment won’t be able to recover this year, considering that the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan unlikely to enter the market in 2018.
A last year leader Audi A3 demonstrated falling this year and has chances to lose the segment leadership with the new Audi Q3 arrival.
After a good Q1’18 when its sales grew by almost a quarter, the BMW 2-Series sales dropped by almost 15% in Q2 of the year. Now the model is behind the aging Acura ILX in the list.
The refreshed BMW i3 could not keep its momentum from the first quarter of 2018. Though the 5.2% decline in the second quarter was small enough to leave the model on the position above the Mini Clubman, which is in free fall now.
