Sales result of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class in Europe in the first quarter of 2019 is impressive. The hatchback led in the luxury compact car segment, well ahead of its main competitors – the Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series.
50,102 Mercedes A-Class cars were sold in the European market in Q1 2019. This is the best result in the segment. Demand for the A-Class on the continent grew by 34%, according to CarSalesBase.com.
For comparison: the entire lineup of the Audi A3 within the same period could boast 39,397 sales, and the BMW 1 Series – 31,720 units. The demand for both models fell by 3 and 11 percent, respectively.
However, the situation may change in the coming months. After all, the new-generation BMW 1 Series has been recently presented. The model is refined in terms of technologies. In addition, the debut of an all-new Audi A3 is around the corner.
We can add that the TOP 10 luxury compact car segment in Europe also includes the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, BMW 2 Series Active / Gran Tourer, Mercedes-Benz CLA, Volvo V40, BMW i3, Mini Clubman and the BMW 2 Series.
