Mercedes Announces an All-New Electric Flagship Sedan

Mercedes-Benz is going to surprise the visitors of the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show by introducing a luxury electric-drive sedan concept.

A darkened teaser has appeared. The all-electric four-seater will be a flagship model representing ‘sustainable modern luxury’.

Sketches and CGI renderings, which the company also displayed, hint it may be the Mercedes-Benz EQS. It will join the current EQC SUV in the EQ-lineup of the brand.

The company once showed the Concept IAA (Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile) several years ago, also in Frankfurt. The silhouette in the picture resembles that car.

What is already known about the EQS?

It is equipped with a 90-kWh battery pack and two electric motors, one per axle. They provide 400 hp and 311-mile driving range (500 km), not bad, indeed. When arrives, it will probably cost above 70,000 EUR.

Daimler is shifting Mercedes to a zero-emission future and wants that 50% of all its vehicles sold will be pure electric in 10 years (by 2030).
