Mercedes-AMG plans to offer a 4-door GT model which is even more potent than the current range-topping GT 63 S.
It’ll come with a “V8 BiTurbo E Performance” badge, and will be one from the lineup of high-performance hybrids under the E Performance branding. This model is a direct rival to the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.
Rumors say this vehicle, assumedly called the Mercedes-AMG GT 73, brings the outstanding power of more than 800 hp generated by a 4.0-liter 8-cylinder twin-turbo engine in pair with an upgraded hybrid system. As all GT 4-door cars, this new one will be an all-wheel-drive model.
For comparison: the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S is powered by a 630-hp V8 working in tandem with an electric motor. The total hybrid system output reaches up to 800 hp. Acceleration from zero to 60 mph takes 2.9 seconds.
Needless to say, that the GT73 should be even more capable – faster and higher performance.
More details about the Mercedes-AMG GT 73 will come soon. Expect its arrival by the end of 2021. As the current GT 63 S’s starting price is $162,950, the GT 73 could approach $200,000.
