Mazda will unveil the CX-50 compact crossover on November 15, 2021. The latest teaser video on Instagram shows a glimpse at the model and informs of the premiere date.
Mazda USA has released a teaser of the upcoming CX-50 compact crossover which will sit above CX-5 (upper photo) in the brand’s model range.
This vehicle is the first of a trio of crossover SUVs the company plans to launch by 2023. The rest two will be the 3-row CX-90 and CX-70 on Mazda’s larger longitudinal platform, with new inline-six-cylinder and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The mentioned teaser gives a vague glimpse of the Mazda CX-50 and, in the end, reveals the debut date – November 15, 2021.
Mazda calls the CX-50 compact, although it is rather a midsize one. It shares the transverse platform with the Mazda 3 and CX-30, but assumedly rides on a bigger version.
According to the automaker, the CX-5 has enhanced all-wheel-drive capability and targets customers with outdoor active lifestyles. Expect the crossover to use Mazda’s 2.5-liter Skyactiv and 2.5-liter inline-four turbocharged engines.
Mazda will build the CX-50 at its new factory in Alabama. Production start is slated for January 2022.
