Mazda CX-5 Got Facelift For 2022 MY: What’s New?

Mazda North American Operations has announced updates to the Mazda CX-5. They include exterior styling improvements and the driving dynamics and ride quality evolution.

For the 2022 model year, the automaker refreshed the Mazda CX-5’s exterior styling. Designers minimized the car’s character lines in favor of reflective body surfaces

Now the front fascia adopts a new signature wing and a revised front grille with a new 3D texture. The headlights and taillights are also changed: each lamp features two horizontal, rectangular LED lights. Besides, the 2022 CX-5 got all-new aluminum alloy wheels.

In addition, the manufacturer made design changes including unique color schemes and better-quality materials to the Mazda CX-5 turbo models – 2.5 Turbo that replaces Grand Touring Reserve, and 2.5 Turbo Signature.

For the 2022 CX-5, Mazda made the same updates to the body, suspension, drive modes, and seats as to its other latest-generation vehicles. Mazda’s intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) debuts on the CX-5. The system enables the driver to choose a suitable drive mode for optimization of driving capability with one touch of a switch.

Important news is the i-Activ AWD system that comes as standard across all CX models from 2022 MY. It continuously monitors weight transfer and shifts power to appropriate wheels.

The Mazda CX-5 is the brand’s best-selling and award-winning model. This year, the company sold 119,741 units as of September 1 in the USA. For comparison with rivals, the Honda CR-V sold 272,657 units, Toyota RAV4 – 292,021 units, Subaru Forester – 120,888 units, Ford Escape – 100,329 units, Kia Sportage – 66,269 units in the country in the same period.
